My clients came to me with a brief to design a house for an adult family of 4, with relatives that regularly visit from the UK. Everyone needed their own space as well as space for gathering.
They had a love for the classic coastal Hamptons style so the building form adopted this typology & incorporated the look of slate tiles, weatherboards and timber fretwork.
The block was very tight, a small size for the Coast 525m sq , triangulated with a fall of 13 metres. Height restrictions are 8.5m so it made getting a decent floor plate on each level very tricky.
The plan was to have the building stepping down with the adult girls on the street entry level, then the parents/ visitors level, next was the clients suite with deck & pergola, then the main living level.
The landscaping was designed to be low maintenance due to busy schedules, and included a plunge pool facing the Brisbane waterfront.
