slice mirror frame

This mirror frame is made with kauri with aluminium strips slicing the face in a random pattern. To reduce the amount of timber used and the weight the structure is a hollow torsion box and measures 1200 in diameter. The torsion box is made from MDF, the interior and exterior curved kauri faces are the kerfed (small cuts made on the tablesaw) to allow the timber to bend without splitting.
